Nomenclature of fetal growth restriction (FGR) has replaced the previously known terminology intrauterine growth retardation and intrauterine growth restriction. Currently FGR is defined as failure of the fetus to meet its biological growth potential. The estimated fetal weight or abdominal circumference is below 10th or 3rd centile Classically the aetiological areas are broadly divided into maternal causes, fetal causes, and placental causes. FGR is a leading cause of stillbirth, neonatal mortality, short-term morbidity and long-term morbidity. In this article, few good practice points are mentioned in a linear fashion and this may help in management of significant number of cases.
